Plantar
Fasciitis

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the plantar fascia which is a very thick ligament connecting your heel to the balls of your foot. The plantar fascia becomes thick and inflamed when there is lack of activation of the intrinsic muscles within your foot, from overuse, poorly fitting shoes or fallen arches.

Plantar fasciitis is most associated with pain at the bottom of the foot that tends to be most painful in the mornings. If you find yourself waking up and then struggling to walk because of tenderness in the sole of your foot, then it is possible that you are experiencing plantar fasciitis.

Fortunately, plantar fasciitis can be treated. However, if left untreated, it causes tightness of nearby structures, especially your calf muscles, and will change your gait and posture; getting thicker and thicker leading to more widespread problems.

Many people don’t realise this can be treated or, don’t realise what chiropractic care can do for this condition. Your chiropractor will increase the range of motion of your ankle and foot, rehab the foot so as to unload the tension on the plantar fascia thus reducing the inflammation and thickening.
