Carpal Tunnel
Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

The carpal tunnel is a narrow passage of ligaments, tendons and nerves at the base of the hand. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome occurs when the median nerve (which runs through your forearm into the palm of your hand) becomes trapped or compressed at the wrist joint due inflammation and thickening of the ligaments or tendons. This results in numbness, weakness and pain in the hands and wrist and also the forearm. Anything that can cause this swelling – injury, repetitive motion or even fluid retention – triggering Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Many people ignore it, mask it with medications, try to mitigate it with splints or braces, not realising that chiropractic care can resolve this. At Back Up, we determine the cause of your case and unwind the syndrome.

Radial Tunnel Syndrome

Radial Tunnel Syndrome is similar to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome – but effects the radial tunnel (which is in the elbow rather than the wrist). It is characterised by pain, weakness, fatigue at the top of your forearm triggered by movement caused by pressure on or entrapment of your radial nerve. Since the radial nerve originates from your neck, you may feel symptoms at various points up your arm. The pressure or entrapment of the nerve can be caused by misalignments of joints, tightness of muscles, any type of inflammation or swelling in the area, and movements like gripping, pushing, pulling.

Many people do not realise it is a syndrome that can be treated. At Back Up we determine which elements are contributing to your specific condition, then correct and rehab accordingly.
